It's the end of the 2023/24 season and Roma, having been in the relegation zone since matchday 2, have been relegated for , as far as I can tell, the first time in about 40 years, if not longer.
There's not really an explanation. They seem to still have money, although I've not taken them over to check for sure, and they still have some good players, so it may have been a one off blip, but with their £53m a year wage budget and the almost definite mass exodus coming up in the summer, it's going to be a very, very difficult job to get them back to where they should be...Keeping them alive in Serie B might be a struggle in and of itself.
A host of players on high wages, all the wrong side of 30. A group of talented youngsters all ready for football...but will they want to play in Serie B?
Clearing out the dead wood and giving youth a chance might be the best option here, as there does seem to be talent at the club. You'll need to keep an eye on the wages, as that could be crippling.
