Lads, for a few weeks I was deciding whether to buy a few templates from Yellow Images, a pretty neat site with lots of mockups to fiddle in photoshop. They were a bit on the expensive side, but after seeing some beautiful kits from several other makers on twitter, I decided to splash the cash today and bought two (they had a 50% off offer on your first purchase).
Well, it was like making it, directly from the U-17 side to Senior Squad, overnight, on a derby day, as the level of skill required to work with these templates is far more than what you need to work with FBKits or other pre-made templates. But my god, the results look beautiful. After around 6 hours of tutorial browsing and experimenting, I made my first 6 kits, and whlist I do believe things can improve vastly, they just look too darn nice.
Sorry for the huge pics, but if I leave them too small, you don't appreaciate the level of details the template has.
Want to help little chaodck boy with his new venture? It's very, very, very easy, but you'll need to be patient and please abide by the rules. Just make a kit request and I'll gladly make it, and thus, learn more and more about this new artform.
1.- I will take requests in an orderly fashion and only one at a time. Please allow me to make the requested kit, before placing another request. Failure to abide by this rule, will push you down the line.
2.- Please be patient, as this is something completely different from regular kit making. Depending on my time availability, I might give a timeframe, but again, it will probably take some time. I do envision becoming faster over time.
3.- Be as specific as you can, please. In fact, no creative liberty allowed for me. This is because the templates are blank and every little design detail must be created from scratch (those adidas stripes were a pain in the arse), so being creative isn't something I'm looking for, rather than trying to re-create certain styles. Please provide pics, or even better, a reference to an already made FBKits template, to try and copy. Same goes with sponsors, patches and brands.
4.- Currently, the only collar types available are those two, the classic polo shirt and the modern v-neck. Other types of collars are available, but I would have to buy the template (see below). I will try to learn a few new skills (mainly the pen tool) to try and modify colouring on the collars, but that's a work in progress.
5.- Please provide all kinds of constructive criticism, and opinions regarding the kits.
6.- There's two teams whose kits I'll never make, due to football principles, Colo Colo and Universidad Católica.
Finally, and this is something completely optional, if you appreciate the work put into this, consider donating a small amount of money, in order to help me buy all the other templates (they are like 15 USD each). Once I buy all the templates, I'll close the donations and won't accept any more money. If you're willing to donate, please contact me via PM.
That's it folks, hope we can get something going on around here. I'm able to put in the effort of learning, hopefully can help the community at the same time. Cheers!
