My final season in Africa has gotten underway. Once the new stadium is completed and unveiled, I am off to North America again. For now, the first games of the season have been easy ones.
With the African CL campaigns not quite matching the regular season, the group stages of the CL are as much as a pre-season campaign as I can muster, sadly.
Transfer-wise, we sold a bit of deadwood and a few first teamers. Forward Mngadi was happy to sign with the Saints, as they met his minimum release fee. The same applied to Dutch/Moroccan winger Yildirim. Our main new signings are Miya and Onovo, to replace the two guys lost.
After a few dreadful spells in Italy with Siena, Udinese and Torino, this guy was happy to come back home. He's a major earner in terms of his wages, but he's also one of the best players active in the domestic league.
Losing Mngadi was a major blow for the team. Onovo is not quite the same player, plus he is way more expensive, so we have traded down here. On the other hand, none of the domestic talent are anywhere near his level, so he's basically the best replacement I could muster. There are few players in the U19 squad that may develop to be as good as Mngadi, but they are several years away from being good enough for first team duties on a regular basis. For now, these fuckers will have to do.
