So I spoke a little about this in the FMitter thread. I went out for a walk with my friend the other night, and the conversation quickly turned to football as it always does. With him being a Celtic fan and me a Rangers fan, we eventually got talking about how we used to play FIFA/Champ Man and add the old firm to the Premier League. I decided that I wanted to do something similar, and ended up sticking both Rangers and Celtic in to the English structure at the lowest playable (withoud edits) tier, the Vanarama North/South Leagues, choosing North for slightly more realism.
It's been 3 seasons now and this is how we've done...
We have been, unsurprisingly, 1 step behind Celtic the entire way. They've had a better team since the start, and have still held on to their stronger players, with only a few exceptions (such as Dembele), but there's not much you can do when Leigh Griffiths is scoring 46 goals in the league
League 2 is now out of the way and the summer will soon be upon is, so it'll be interesting to see what happens. I think we'll start to be challenged a lot more now and I'll be interested to see how Celtic handle it. Without Griffiths 46 goals, only Sinclair (14) manager double figures last season and when you consider that they're paying Sinclair, Griffiths and Scott Brown a combined 200k p/w, you've got to wonder how long they can sustain that level out outgoings, even if they do have plenty of sellable assets.
One thing I wasn't prepared for, was just how low our reputation is. I understand I'm maybe a bit biased, but I still look at Rangers as a big club, however in game our reputation has fallen in line with clubs in League 1, which has meant that my initial dream of signing a load of ageing wonders for the English lower tiers never really came to fruition, whilst Celtic ended up signing the likes of Robinho on a free, and players such as Chalobah and Wayne Hennesey. We've generally had to make do with youngsters released from bigger clubs. We've obviously got more financial clout than other teams at this level, so we've managed to attract the likes of Stefan Simic when he was released from Milan, and Alberto Roussos from Juventus. It's not quite the same, but still, it helps!
I've not had any messages regarding Brexit yet, which is good, as I'm a bit worried about what'll happen. In fairness, a hard brexit will probably kill this save, but we'll see what happens. If anybody is interested in any goings on, let me know and I'll provide some answers
