We did it! Austria Salzburg are back in the Bundesliga!
It's fantastic to be heading to the top tier, as difficult as it's going to be. We made it difficult for ourselves this term, at one point we were almost 15 points clear at the top, but we played pretty horribly for the second half of the season and by end it had fallen to 4. Still, the title is ours and that is what counts.
The positive for us next season is only 1 club goes down, so realistically we just need to be better than one team and we'll stay up. That's obviously easier said than done, of course, but still a little reassuring.
As you no doubt seen in the previous post, Malick Diawara was sold to Gladbach for 925k, which was a great deal for us, as we've also got a 25% future fee clause. What is better yet, is that we replaced him with Valentin Zeutsa on a minor compensation deal from Eding Sport. His 8 goals in 15 games, coming during our worst form, was vital to our promotion, alongside Baba Ntim's 16 goals in 38.
Joel Ngando still wont discuss a new contract, so will likely leave on a free at the end of the season, but I'm more than confident that I could find a solid replacement in a fairly short space of time, so that's all good.
That's our balance as it starts at this new season. £1.2m profit next season, brought on mainly by the Diawara transfer, puts us in a good position, especially if we can stay in this division moving forward. The club also completed the deal to purchase the stadium, which I assume will reduce some costs too, but that remains to be seen.
Also, as a side note, I've been really busy lately getting back into the swing of things at uni, with work and home life too. Apologies for the lack of updates and, more importantly, for my lack of input in the saves of others. I'll look to rectify that soon
