Welcome, one and all, to another exciting edition of 'Let's watch Dale fuck it all up'...
As I stated in my last post, doing a journeyman without all the leagues loaded from the start did a real number on my computer, and by the end I was struggling to get between games without waiting forever and suffering from numerous crash dumps. I will get a final post recapping my career tomorrow, but I wanted to get this up just now.
As some of you may have been able to get from the title, this is the return of SV Austria Salzburg, because as I'm sure you can all agree, Red Bull Salzburg and all the other Red Bull teams, and the company itself for that matter, can go and fornicate themselves with a large, rusty pole.
Now, if you're not familiar with the story, in 2005 Red Bull bought SV Austria Salzburg (the first of a number of Red Bull football acquisitions). Now, this was nothing new, football teams were taken over all the time, but this time it was different.
Red Bull completely re-branded the club, changing the name, the badge and the colours of a 72 year old football club, and if that wasn't enough, the moved to have the clubs history stricken from the record books and completely removed from the club, a move which was eventually blocked by the Austrian Football Federation.
This caused a great divide within the fanbase and eventually lead to the formation, or reformation, of the original SV Austria Salburg club. Between 2006 and the present day, the club have risen from the 7th tier of Austrian football to the second, only to be relegated back down to the third, which is where we find ourselves today.
So, what am I looking to achieve?
- To play a game that lasts more than a day!
- To take the club back to the top tier
- To somehow balance our struggling finances (-£1.4m)
- To match and overtake RB Salzburg
- To Qualify for European Football
- To Produce International level footballers for Austria
- Repeat the feat of 1994 by reaching the Europa League Final
It's not an extensive list, some of those goals are short term, some are long term. It's something that will, hopefully, keep me invested in this save, as I really want this to be my last throw of the dice before FM17 arrives.
I'm going to be looking at a lot of the more detailed posters around here to see if I can find ways of balancing the books, getting the most out of lesser players and developing any interesting youngsters that come my way
It might all go tits up, and it probably will, but I'm really quite hyped about this one.
