**Ajax FC - Pre-Season Report 2025/26**
I thought the arrival of the 2nd child wouldn't have altered my gaming time, but it has. Hopefully with two children and my wife having a nap I will get this update uploaded.
The summer went to plan, I managed to keep hold of those I wanted whilst raising some money for re-enforcements. I think I was given around £10m to spend but luckily we get approximately an extra £500k each money from previous appearance related instalments, the previous managers have to be praised for that.
A lot of money is being raised from my loan deals, I could have done with keeping some of those youths at the club but the money they bring in sort of pays for some of the new players. One big exit was Kasumovic who asked to move shortly after I arrived but I couldn't shift him, for some reason PSG made a bid which I managed to get them to agree to an extra 50% of his next fee on top.
I think I went a little over the top on new arrivals, we only really needed a couple of new defenders. Hopefully things will work out.
I did mentioned I wanted a striker that could score 25+ goals each season and when I found Diego Vergera whilst scouring Mexico I knew he was the man for the job. He is still young and there is room to grow. You can see from the screenshot that he as already started the season well.
Our most expensive purchase was Felix De La Torre who goes straight into the heart of defence. Another young talent playing in Mexico. There were further additions to the back line in the form of Basile Silva, Mathias Da Rosa and Sam Zandbergen. Basile is someone I had my eyes on when I was managing Rio Ave and looks a decent back up player. Mathias is certainly one for the future whilst Sam will spend some time at the club developing with the aim of becoming our left back in a couple of years.
Darren Deakin was bit of a gamble. He generated at Leicester later than usual and has only played an handful of games each season, but he was valued highly and my scouts liked him. Being English I thought if he had a decent season with us I could sell for loads. Time will tell. I paid a little more than I wanted for Idris Taiwo but there were a number of clubs interested. I like my African players, they are cheap and they usually all need some work, Idris is no different, one for the future - maybe!
My final signing as been on my shortlist for a while so when Barcelona put Josep Maria Riera on the transfer list I knew I had to sign him. He has hardly spent any time in the Barca team, instead spending season on loan at the likes of Palermo and Lyon, so offers good experience.
With all that chopping and changing, how did we fare in the pre-season???
